Haibike XDURO AllMtn 6.0 2018 Electric Mountain Bike
A serious all terrain e-MTB without doing too much damage to your wallet.
See those kids riding dual suspension mountain bikes around your neighbourhood? This is one for grownups. Don’t plan your commute to work on the XDURO AllMtn 6.0 2018 Electric Mountain Bike as it really isn’t the kit for that. How about riding a few miles on road to do some serious trail riding? That puts you in Sheffield, Inverness or Fort William – not London, Birmingham or Cambridge!
The first thing that kills this as a London commuter bike is the tyres – these are 2.8" Maxxis Minion DHR and DHR front and rear specific tyres that are sticky and grippy on loose and wet substrate. You won’t need the 150mm travel Suntour AION forks for pottering into work, or the Magura MT trail brakes that have a dual piston, 203mm brake set on the front and 180mm single piston brake system on the rear.
The shocks can be set up for road use – the rear RockShox Deluxe RT shock has adjustable presets for a harder ride on the road and full travel when off road. The front has the same. Then we see the way the gearing is set up. On a morning commute on an electric bike do you really need a choice of 20 gear ratios? With two rings on the front and 10 at the rear you can choose from 20 speeds according to the gradient (up or down) on the trail.
Overall? This is a great piece of kit for someone who takes mountain biking and trail riding seriously and may want that extra kick up a hill from a motor and the odd spell on road. There are road cyclists who like to do reasonably serious off road treks – we have other Haibikes for you if you want that!
Yamaha PW-X system
The power that makes this electric mountain bike go is the Yamaha PW-X eBike system. It is a 250W motor that can give you up to 320% the wattage you put into the pedals at a peak of 80Nm of torque. It has five settings – 'Eco+', 'Eco', 'Standard', 'High' & 'EXPW' (Extra POWER). Using the 500Wh battery you have a brand-claimed 110 miles on Eco+ setting – bank on 70 with sore legs at the end! The handlebar mounted LCD display shows you a range of parameters according to your needs on a particular leg of your trip.
