Haibike SDURO Cross 3.0 2019 Electric Bike
An electric bike that will handle road very well and lighter trails like a boss, the Haibike SDURO Cross 3.0 is lots of fun on those routes where you’re more on road than off, yet with grippy tyres for those sections where you fly across the fields or tow / railway paths…
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
Haibike Cross series
Haibike have made what may be termed a ‘serious hybrid’ in the Cross series for enjoyable riding on road yet can chew up the countryside on legs between the road – a cyclocross bike in short. This can make it a good commuter, or a machine that you can take on family rides with to keep up with the youngsters!
Who’s this for?
With its narrower wheels the Haibike SDURO Cross 3.0 has much less rolling resistance for road cycling, yet it is designed to get through the muddy and slippy stuff with its knobbly tyres. Its 500 Watt hour battery means that you can go the extra mile or ten too!
Tell me more?
On 28 inch wheels the narrower Schwalbe Smart Sam tyres are built primarily for road use and the SDURO Cross 3.0 electric hybrid bike as a whole looks more of a road machine than an e-MTB.
The 120mm travel SR Suntour NEX E25 front shocks have a remote lockout so you can switch between harder and softer settings for off-road and on-road as well as climbs and descents.
The Shimano Alivio M4000 is a 9-speed gearing system that doesn’t quite have the same amount of ratios as that of its eMTB brethren but with its 11-40t cassette is more than enough for decent road riding.
For speed control the Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes have a bigger 180mm rotor on the front and a smaller 160mm rotor on the rear, reflecting that most of your braking is on the front wheel.
Cyclocross is about pace on different substrates and terrains – not all track and mud. This makes this electric hybrid bike ideal for a multi-surface commute, for someone who wants to get into the world of cyclocross or just for someone who doesn’t want to worry too much whether a forest track will kill their machine – this will handle those terrains like a boss!
500 watt hour battery, Bosch Performance CX and Intuvia display.
Your 500 watt-hour battery will give you a good 50-60 miles of mixed terrain riding – a lot more if you put more into the pedals and ask less of the motor! Batteries are easily swapped out using a special key so for a big day in the saddle you might want to carry another. They can be charged in just 2 hours using the supplied fast charger.
The 250W Bosch ePerformance CX is built with the trails in mind. It gives a little extra power at lower cadences for when you need that extra kick to get up to speed, while cutting out briefly during a gear change to protect the chain as you need to kick a little harder on those climbs. With a peak output of 75Nm of torque (up to 300% the wattage you put into the pedals) you can really shift when you need to, too!
Intuvia display: Built for those who don’t want to worry about every single parameter of their ride this simple, clear LCD display tells you just the basics for your ride. Battery capacity and estimated battery distance, speed and power setting are all in one spot for you to see with a quick glance.
