Haibike SDURO HardNine 5.0 2019 Electric Bike
The Haibike SDURO HardSeven 5.0 is a mid range Yamaha powered electric mountain bike that is good for harder cross country riding and pushing quite hard on the trails. You will be a rider who might be new to electric mountain biking but may also have a bit of experience and want to see what all the fuss is about Haibike. Once you start riding you’ll get it – that’s a promise!
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
HardSeven vs HardNine
What size wheel do you prefer? The 27.5” wheel can handle tricky trails better while the 29” wheel is more of a cross country purist. Simply, the HardNine is the 29er and the HardSeven is the 27.5 wheeled electric mountain bike.
HardSeven vs FullSeven
Haibike HardSeven electric mountain bikes are hard tail. FullSeven are full suspension.
Who’s this electric mountain bike for?
If this is your first electric mountain bike then bravo for choosing! The Haibike SDURO HardSeven 5.0 has a Yamaha drive so you may be in that eMTB tribe (as opposed to the Bosch tribe) but are after a machine that will take a bit of a kicking on the highways and byways or even some tougher trails.
More detail please!
For absorbing the lumps and lumps you have a SR Suntour XCR34 Air LO-R Boost with air lockout that can easily be switched between settings for climbing, softer and road terrains.
The drivetrain is centred around the 11 speed Sram NX system that runs over an 11-42 tooth cassette, allowing for climbs to be tackled with as much or as little of a sweat as you choose.
Tektro Orion M745 hydraulic brakes on 180mm rotors will control your speed in most conditions with no fade.
On 27.5” wheels, Schwalbe Smart Sam Active will be good for hard surfaces but tackle the looser, wetter stuff with ease.
Overall this is a machine that is excellent for chewing up the miles on a longer XC run or perhaps exploring your local trails. One thing is certain – hills and mountainside fears are a thing of the past.
500Wh battery, Yamaha PW-SE motor and Side Switch display
This bike comes with a Yamaha 500 watt hour battery that is ample for longer length rides where you’re not embarrassed to ask for the odd push of full power as you get about. Rechargeable in just a few hours, you can plug it in in the evening and have a full battery for your next day in the saddle.
The Yamaha PW-SE is a development on the tried and tested Yamaha PW motor and delivers just the power you need where and when you need it. Economical yet delivering just the right amount of power when you need it, this power system is perfect for road and trail alike.
The Yamaha Side Switch display is an LCD screen that shows all your parameters in one place so with just a quick glance you can see just what you want, be it battery life, power setting, speed or distance travelled. You control the power output of the motor with a flick of a switch from your right thumb.
