Haibike XDURO FullSeven Carbon 8.0 2018 Electric Mountain Bike
So, you want a bit of carbon do you? On an electric MTB that will gobble up the trails for less than £5k? Try a bit of this then – don’t worry, being of German engineering, it is a nice bit of kit that won’t bite (too savagely!)
Let’s look at its components…
The front forks of the Haibike XDURO FullSeven Carbon 8.0 2018 Electric Mountain Bike are the all new Suntour, 120mm travel Axon fork with remote lockout, while at the rear you have the fully air adjustable Suntour Duair shock that has on the fly rebound controls.
Stopping power is provided by the Maguro MT4 hydraulic disc brakes.
Schwalbe Rocket Ron, dual compound tyres roll on a Haibike wheel set with Rodi Black double wall rims.
For a shorter wheelbase, Haibike have mounted the motor with the swing arm pivot in a raised position. They are the only e-bike manufacturer to do so in the world.
The Haibike SES (Sprocket Equalising System) is also unique to Haibike, which is designed to ensure that the chain never drops. While the rear moves up and down over the rough terrain, the Haibike SES system keeps the chain in just the right position.
At the rear you have a Sram 11-42t cassette and gearing system with great ratios for managing uphill and downhill stretches alike.
Add to the mix alloy bars and stem, as well as a Selle Royale saddle and you have a machine that is very tidy indeed.
The Bosch power system
The Haibike XDURO FullSeven Carbon 8.0 2018 Electric Mountain Bike has a 250W Bosch Performance CX crank drive motor that can throw out 75 Newton metres of torque on demand. You can get 300% of the power you put into the pedals, and the power curve comes in very smoothly, just as you need it.
While doing the trails at speed, the designers of this machine know you don’t need to be told what you had for breakfast by the Purion display, which gives just a few essential parameters on a small and compact display.
The new eMTB assistance mode on the controller can make judgements as to how much assistance you need, so you don’t need to bother clicking through the controller as you focus on the essential things like getting down the trail in the minimum time possible. You can choose from four other levels of assistance as you wish, perhaps toward the end of the day as the battery is a little tired.
