Haibike XDURO FullFatSix 10.0 2019 Mens Electric Mountain Bike
The beastliest of the beasts in the Haibike FatSix range the XDURO FullFatSix 10.0 is a full suspension mud and sand muncher of the highest pedigree. For riding on sand, snow and mud that would scare the wheels off other e-MTBs.
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
FatSix
Fat is where it’s at! Have a beach nearby that you want to explore? Mountain bikes can’t handle that, right? Wrong. Soft snow a barrier? No. What about muddy, soft tracks that tractors have chewed up? Nup. With its huge, 4 inch wide wheels this series of electric mountain bike has a wide yet soft footprint that allows you to take on substrate that confounds all other MTBs. Even on road and normal tracks these are surprisingly agile too, so while sticking out loud and proud, this could be your main e-MTB…
Who’s this for?
Let’s face it – some people ride the FatSix because it stands out from the crowd and they like to be noticed by people other than white van men looking at their text messages instead of the road in front of them. The FullFatSix isn’t the sort of machine for them. This IS a machine that is for the very serious e-MTB rider who wants to go out in all conditions and is fit enough to take on nearly every terrain available. You may be into sand dune munching as well as cruising the beach. You may be after a training machine for those months when tracks become too boggy. Downhill? Uphill? Just don’t try deep fords as it won’t forgive you – the only terrain this doesn’t like!
Full Fat
The 120mm travel RockShox Bluto RL front suspension allows for an inch more travel than this monster’s little brothers, and is complemented by a RockShox Deluxe RT3 rear damper.
With the Yamaha PW-X power plant supporting your pedalling, the Sram GX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain will see off most uphill and downhill sections, especially with the 11-50t sprocket that helps even with the nastiest of slopes. Stopping power is with the Magura MT5 front disc brake on a 203mm rotor and a Magura MT4 disc brake on a 180mm rotor at the rear.
On a 27.5” DT Swiss BR70 wheel set it has Schwalbe Jumbo Jim Evo tyres, and for control it has 780mm Gravity handlebars. For rapid rider position change, the Haibike XDURO FullFatSix 10.0 has a Kind Shock LEV-DX 31.6mm telescopic seat post.
Yamaha PW-X
This is Yamaha’s performance range of motor. At a mere 3.1kg it is one of the lightest power systems on the market yet can still punch out 80Nm of torque. Despite this huge punch it delivers power smoothly so you won’t spin out / wheelie unless you want to, yet responds to your pedalling almost instantly! Built to take up to 120 RPM of cadence it is designed with the serious rider in mind.
500Wh battery and Side Switch display
This bike comes with a Yamaha 400 watt hour battery that is ample for medium length rides where you’re not embarrassed to ask for the odd push of full power as you get about. Rechargeable in just a few hours, you can plug it in in the evening and have a full battery for your next day in the saddle.
The Yamaha Side Switch display is an LCD screen that shows all your parameters in one place so with just a quick glance you can see just what you want, be it battery life, power setting, speed or distance travelled. You control the power output of the motor with a flick of a switch from your right thumb.
