Haibike XDURO Dwnhll 8.0 2019 Mens Electric Mountain Bike
The entry level machine in this series of e-MTBs, the Haibike XDURO Dwnhll 8.0 nevertheless has a great set of components and will get you down the track at competitive speeds. With its Yamaha PW-X drive system, this is a force to be reckoned with in the downhill racing world.
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
Haibike Dwnhll
Well specced and durable, the DWNHLL range of electric mountain bikes are all about getting down that track in a competitive time and completely intact in (almost) whatever the circumstances. Heavier than the NDURO series of electric mountain bikes, these machines are built like tanks with only one direction in mind – downhill and FAST!
Who are you?
You will be the sort of rider who enjoys nothing more than haring down the track at speeds that would make your mother weep. You may enjoy other disciplines and be buying the XDURO DWNHLL 8.0 under the general cycling rule of having the number you need + 1. In either case this is a tank of a machine that will fly down the hill / mountainside and stay intact long after lighter weight machines will have disintegrated…
More detail on the DWNHLL 8.0
With 200mm of travel, the RockShox BoXXer RC Air front shocks will soak up every landing and bump like a pro. These are matched with RockShox Super Deluxe RCT rear shocks.
With the Yamaha PW-X drive system giving you an enormous nudge as you go, the 11 speed Sram NX drivetrain with an 11-42 Sram PG1130 sprocket is beefy and durable yet will get you down there quick quick.
Mounted on 203mm rotors the Haibike XDURO Dwnhll 8.0’s Magura MT5 hydraulic disc brakes are just the stuff for speed control at those cortical moments.
On 27.5” Alexrims Supra BH rims, the Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR II are grippy on a range of substrates.
780mm wide Haibike Components TheBar handlebars are excellent for control, and with the 31.6mm telescoping Kind Shock LEV-DX seat post you will be able to adjust your position perfectly as you barrel down the slope.
Yamaha PW-X
This is Yamaha’s performance range of motor. At a mere 3.1kg it is one of the lightest power systems on the market yet can still punch out 80Nm of torque. Despite this huge punch it delivers power smoothly so you won’t spin out / wheelie unless you want to, yet responds to your pedalling almost instantly! Built to take up to 120 RPM of cadence it is designed with the serious rider in mind.
400Wh battery, Side Switch display
This bike comes with a Yamaha 500 watt hour battery that is ample for longer length rides where you’re not embarrassed to ask for the odd push of full power as you get about. Rechargeable in just a few hours, you can plug it in in the evening and have a full battery for your next day in the saddle.
The Yamaha Side Switch display is an LCD screen that shows all your parameters in one place so with just a quick glance you can see just what you want, be it battery life, power setting, speed or distance travelled. You control the power output of the motor with a flick of a switch from your right thumb.
