Haibike XDURO AllMtn 8.0 2018 Electric Mountain Bike
Would you call yourself an intermediate XC or downhill rider? The sort who can absolutely fly at slightly easier sections yet loses a little time on the trickier bits? The XDURO AllMtn 8.0 2018 Electric Mountain Bike is a very good bet for you then!
How does this differ from the AllMtn 7.0?
This piece of kit is about serious riding. The XC and downhill electric mountain bike has 150mm travel Fox 34 front shocks – the best this firm makes – that have lockouts for trail and harder surfaces, and also has the Boost axle setup for better handling and stiffness. The rear Fox Float Performance shock has been improved in 2018 for rebound and compression flow.
Stopping is with the Magura MT5 4 piston hydraulic disc brakes that are controlled by two-finger levers. The saddle has an XLC dropper post as you change your riding position on different legs of your ride.
The Schwalbe Magic Mary tyres are on 27” wheels that many argue are the best size for most e-MTB riding, and the tyres themselves are great for loose and damp terrain.
For those after fine tuning their climbs and descents, the XDURO AllMtn 8.0 2018 has a similarity with its 6.0 cousin – the 20 speed drive train with 10 cogs on the rear and two on the front. The SunRace 10 speed cassette at the rear is specially developed to give a 11-40t setup and with the two front cogs gives a fantastic choice of ratios to choose from. This is more commonly seen with 11 speed systems This is connected to the Yamaha PX motor system we will look at below.
Yamaha PW-X system
The power that makes this electric mountain bike go is the Yamaha PW-X eBike system. It is a 250W motor that can give you up to 320% the wattage you put into the pedals at a peak of 80Nm of torque. It has five settings – 'Eco+', 'Eco', 'Standard', 'High' & 'EXPW' (Extra POWER). Using the 500Wh battery you have a brand-claimed 110 miles on Eco+ setting – bank on 70 with sore legs at the end! The handlebar mounted LCD display shows you a range of parameters according to your needs on a particular leg of your trip.
