Haibike XDURO Allmtn 3.0 2019 Mens Electric Mountain Bike
You’re serious about flying downhill and uphill at huge speeds and want to handle almost anything that the mountain can chuck at you. You want a Bosch drive system – the Haibike XDURO AllMtn 3.0 is the machine for you.
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
AllMtn
The Haibike AllMtn series is a range of bikes designed to take serious abuse, sacrificing weight for the ability to take whatever you chuck at it. Never mind not fearing hills as so many electric bikes do for you – fear nothing on the Haibike AllMtn series as it will take anything you throw at it (except immersing the motor in the water of course!)
Who’s this for?
You will be an experienced electric mountain bike rider who has decided that the Bosch electric drive system is the better system for you. We all have our opinions, which is why Haibike make near identical machines with Yamaha or Bosch drive systems. The 2.0 is nearly £500 cheaper but when you’re parting with £3 grand plus then that might not be a major decision for you. Let’s look at the differences now.
Detail, detail, detail…
Other than the Bosch drive system, the XDURO AllMtn 3.0 has an 11 cog rear cassette (11-42t) while the 2.0 has 10 on the rear and 2 on the front. There are bigger cogs on the Bosch but near equal ratios to be found on both machines. It largely comes down to whether you are a Bosch person or a Yamaha! The 3.0 electric mountain bike has a Sram NX drivetrain.
The Haibike XDURO AllMtn 3.0 has 160mm travel RockShox Yari RC Lockout on the front and a RockShox Deluxe RT damper on the rear.
For those moments when speed needs to be reduced TRP G-Spec Trail disc brakes on a 203mm front rotor and a 180mm rear rotor are perfect to prevent trees from stopping you even more quickly.
On Rodi Tryp 35 double walled rims, Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR tyres are designed to chew up and spit out the terrain. Topping this all off you have a 780mm set of handlebars for finer direction control and an XLC AllMtn remote controlled telescoping seat post.
500 watt hour battery, Bosch Performance CX and Purion display.
Your 500 watt-hour battery will give you a good 50 miles of mixed terrain riding – a lot more if you put more into the pedals and ask less of the motor! Batteries are easily swapped out using a special key so for a big day in the saddle you might want to carry another. They can be charged in just 2 hours using the supplied fast charger.
The 250W Bosch ePerformance CX is built with the trails in mind. It gives a little extra power at lower cadences for when you need that extra kick to get up to speed, while cutting out briefly during a gear change to protect the chain as you need to kick a little harder on those climbs. With a peak output of 75Nm of torque (up to 300% the wattage you put into the pedals) you can really shift when you need to, too!
This is controlled through the Bosch Purion control system. This gives a range of data to you the rider, from estimated battery on a given power setting to distance left on that setting, as well as speed and distance covered. It really is all you need for a fun day out in the hills! With power just a click of the left thumb and the other data available with an easy to use thumb-joystick you can focus on riding not faffing about with the system!
