Haibike XDURO Allmtn 10.0 2019 Mens Electric Mountain Bike
The ultimate mountain munching machine built by the top production bike manufacturer in Europe if not the world! With its top end components and the new Haibike FLYON power and control system, the Haibike XDURO AllMtn 10.0 will exert its power on virtually any obstacle presented to it (except deep water!!!).
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
AllMtn
The Haibike AllMtn series is a range of bikes designed to take serious abuse, sacrificing weight for the ability to take whatever you chuck at it. Never mind not fearing hills as so many electric bikes do for you – fear nothing on the Haibike AllMtn series as it will take anything you throw at it (except immersing the motor in the water of course!)
Who’s this for?
You will be an expert mountain biker who knows how to push a machine to its limits and perhaps needs one that can take some heavy use. You could be using the AllMtn 10.0 as a training machine or for fun – with its top end specs and ability to take mountain climbs and super fast descents alike it will put a huge grin on your face after every ride. One thing takes an otherwise extremely good machine and makes it amazing is the FLYON power and control system.
XDURO AllMtn 10.0 details
Weight distribution is a core factor of what makes the Haibike AllMtn 10.0 an excellent ride. Its light yet strong main frame has the FLYON i630Wh battery in its lower tube, keeping the weight nice and low for improved manoeuvrability. The frame is attached to the 150mm travel aluminium front DT Swiss F535-One forks with remote lockouts. At the rear it has a DT Swiss R535 One damper, also with 150mm of travel.
Supported with the 38t Haibike front cog, the 12-speed Sram XX1 Eagle drivetrain runs over an 11-50 tooth rear sprocket, and offers some great ratios for hard climbs and controlled descents alike. Speed control is achieved with top end Magura MT7 brakes on 203mm rotors. 27.5” DT Swiss HX 1501 wheels have Maxxis DHF and DHR II tyres.
Want low light and night riding? The integrated 150 lux Haibike Skybeamer 5000 headlights will ensure you can see around you as you blast through the dark while others can see you with its Haibike Twin TailLights.
Flyon
New for 2019 is the Haibike Flyon drive and control system. Perhaps aware that they could do better than those companies they pay licenses to to use their power systems (Bosch and Yamaha) the German cycling brand has redesigned the e-bike system from the ground up.
European regulations limit how fast you can go but not how fast you get to that top speed. Even the 250W Yamaha PW-X manages 80Nm of torque – which really is kicking like a mule – but Haibike have gone a full 50% of power better and delivered 120Nm of torque which is like being kicked by a mad bull. You want warp speed acceleration up the track or even at the lights, you got it!
It isn’t just the motor Haibike have fixed up. The speed sensor has been improved with a special disc spinning in front of a sensor that is integrated into the frame. This sends 18 measurements per wheel rotation to the control system, enabling it to respond more quickly than any other sensor system to a change in cadence.
The 38 or 42 tooth proprietary front chain ring that takes that power from the motor and sends it direct to the drivetrain.
The Flyon control system is integrated into the handlebars just above the stem. Here, Haibike’s boffins have been hard at work too. You have a choice of five power settings from Eco to Xtreme. Colour codes tell you what power level you’re in and with easy navigation you can see a whole range of measurements from projected battery life-distance to speed and distance, as well as things like heart rate and cadence.
One of the problems all e-bikes have is that they are carrying the weight of the Lithium-ion battery and the motor. These are unavoidable, so the best manufacturers have worked out the best place to put them for ride-ability – this is in the frame, low down where the pivot point should be. This is why the Flyon battery is completely concealed in the frame.
A final improvement on the Bosch / Yamaha systems? The battery. The best Bosch offers is the ‘i500Wh’ battery that may give you 50 miles of mixed riding. For very little weight penalty Habike offer a 630Wh battery that on a carbon framed featherweight machine should give you an extra 20 miles before you reach into your backpack for a spare!
