Haibike SDURO Trekking 7.0 2019 Ladies Electric Trekking Bike
A machine for roads and tracks, all weathers and all lighting conditions? The Haibike SDURO Trekking 7.0 Women’s Electric Trekking Bike is all things to all conditions! Whether for a prolonged spell of off-road riding in the hills (or mixed between road and hill) or simply a commuter bike that has more of a presence on the road this is a solid machine that can handle it all.
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
Trekking
Ranging from high quality hybrid road bikes to the more cross-country end of the electric hybrid and trekking end of the spectrum, the Haibike Trekking series is for those who want to carry a bit more with them on their journeys and may wish to travel in low light conditions.
Who’s this for?
Want something bigger and sturdier for road riding that is more likely to be seen than a slimmer road bike? This could improve your road riding confidence. You may be planning a long ride later this year with a few wilderness stops on your route, or simply be after a machine that you can enjoy at the weekend as well as in weekday traffic. There are other reasons too!
The detail…
The first thing you notice about the SDURO Trekking 7.0 Women’s electric trekking bike is the wheels – the Schwalbe Super Moto X tyres are good on rough ground as well as on the road. These sit on 27.5 inch wheels that are smaller in diameter than dedicated road bikes in the Trekking series – more of a mountain bike it follows the philosophy that smaller wheels are more manoeuvrable.
The eleven speed Shimano SLX M7000 drivetrain uses an 11-46 tooth cassette – the 46t ‘granny gear’ will get you up almost anything with the Bosch Performance CX motor giving you a push. Stopping is with the Shimano MT400 disc brakes that use 160mm rotors.
What takes this bike from the XC world and into trekking is the panniers and mudguards that allow you to carry loads such as your homework or a tent and change of clothes as cargo as you travel. Mounted on the machine is a Haibike Skybeamer 150, 50 lux headlight that is plumbed into the main battery so you will always be able to see & be seen as long as you have juice in the battery. It also comes with a bright rear LED light.
Intuvia display
Built for those who don’t want to worry about every single parameter of their ride this simple, clear LCD display tells you just the basics for your ride. Battery capacity and estimated battery distance, speed and power setting are all in one spot for you to see with a quick glance.
500 watt hour battery, Bosch Performance CX motor
Your 500 watt-hour battery will give you a good 50 miles of mixed terrain riding – a lot more if you put more into the pedals and ask less of the motor! Batteries are easily swapped out using a special key so for a big day in the saddle you might want to carry another. They can be charged in just 2 hours using the supplied fast charger.
The 250W Bosch ePerformance CX is built with the trails in mind. It gives a little extra power at lower cadences for when you need that extra kick to get up to speed, while cutting out briefly during a gear change to protect the chain as you need to kick a little harder on those climbs. With a peak output of 75Nm of torque (up to 300% the wattage you put into the pedals) you can really shift when you need to, too!
