Haibike SDURO HardSeven Life 5.0 2019 Ladies Electric Bike
This is the top end of the HardSeven Life series electric mountain bikes. Built for harder trails and longer legged cross country riding, the Haibike SDURO HardSeven Life 5.0 has some great components that will serve you well as you venture further afield. Being specially built around the female frame, it will be comfortable yet sporty at the same time.
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
Life!
Men and women are built differently, and Haibike have recognised this in building a line of electric mountain bikes that suit the woman without adding extra weight or making for any lower quality in the saddle as so many of the German company’s rivals seem to manage. The Life range is a real step up from those bikes that merely have a lower crossbar for you.
HardSeven vs FullSeven
Haibike HardSeven electric mountain bikes are hard tail. FullSeven are full suspension
Who’s this for?
You will be a woman who wants to go farther, faster and harder in the hills. You might be a traditional MTB rider who wants to see what all the fuss is about by ‘going electric’ or simply someone who may be daunted by the hills but wants to ride them with a bit of a push from the Yamaha PW-SE motor. Another group may be part of a couple who want the right his and hers electric bikes – look at the HardSeven 5.0 for him in this case. There are other reasons too!
Tell me more then?
For trail riding and trickier stretches when going cross country, the Haibike SDURO HardSeven Life 5.0 has 120mm travel SR Suntour XCR34 Air LO-R front shocks with Boost Lockout, that can be trimmed for uphill, downhill, hard surfaces and rough surfaces as you need.
The 27.5 inch wheels are great for manoeuvrability on sharper turns and obstacles, and these have Schwalbe Smart Sam Active tyres that are happy on the road but will chew up the looser and wetter stuff you encounter off-road.
Connected to the Yamaha PW-SE motor the machine has an 11-speed Sram NX drive train that has an 11-42 tooth cassette for some great ratios as you tackle different uphill and downhill sections of your route. Stopping and speed control is achieved with Tektro Orion M745 hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm rotors.
500Wh battery, Yamaha PW-SE motor and Side Switch display
This bike comes with a Yamaha 500 watt hour battery that is ample for longer length rides where you’re not embarrassed to ask for the odd push of full power as you get about. Rechargeable in just a few hours, you can plug it in in the evening and have a full battery for your next day in the saddle.
The Yamaha PW-SE is a development on the tried and tested Yamaha PW motor and delivers just the power you need where and when you need it. Economical yet delivering just the right amount of power when you need it, this power system is perfect for road and trail alike.
The Yamaha Side Switch display is an LCD screen that shows all your parameters in one place so with just a quick glance you can see just what you want, be it battery life, power setting, speed or distance travelled. You control the power output of the motor with a flick of a switch from your right thumb.
