Haibike SDURO Cross 9.0 2019 Trapeze Electric Bike
The top specced electric cross bike in the SDURO Cross series, the Haibike SDURO Cross 9.0 Trapeze (Lower Crossbar) Electric Cross Bike is a machine that is just as happy off-road as it is on road, with the added advantage of its slimmer profile tyres being quicker on road than MTB tyres. Whether a cyclocross rider looking for a training machine or someone who just loves mixed road / XC riding this should be top of your list!
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
Haibike Cross series
Haibike have made what may be termed a ‘serious hybrid’ in the Cross series for enjoyable riding on road yet can chew up the countryside on legs between the road – a cyclocross bike in short. This can make it a good commuter, or a machine that you can take on family rides with to keep up with the youngsters!
Who’s this bike for?
Do you enjoy riding a mix of country lanes and off-road sections? This is a fun weekend machine for those rides. You could be a commuter or someone who needs to do things in town regularly who encounters a few slippery / loose sections on your route so can’t go for a pure road machine. Perhaps most importantly this is a great training machine for the cyclocross competition rider who is after a bit of variety in their training.
The detail
With its MTB-sized 27.5 inch wheels the Haibike SDURO Cross 9.0 electric cross bike is great for bumpy routes yet with the lower profile Schwalbe Super Moto X it has a lower rolling resistance, allowing for higher average speeds on metalled surfaces.
Handling the rougher sections of your riding routes with ease is the SR Suntour Mobie E45 LOR front shocks with lockouts for different terrains – be they rough, hard, uphill or downhill.
The machine has a Bosch Performance CX drive system that supports an 11-speed Shimano Deore XT M8000 drivetrain. This runs over a huge 46 tooth granny gear so fear of even the nastiest of hills will become just a memory. Stopping power is amply provided with the Magura MT4 hydraulic disc brakes that use 180mm rotors.
Intuvia display
Built for those who don’t want to worry about every single parameter of their ride this simple, clear LCD display tells you just the basics for your ride. Battery capacity and estimated battery distance, speed and power setting are all in one spot for you to see with a quick glance.
500 watt hour battery, Bosch Performance CX motor
Your 500 watt-hour battery will give you a good 50 miles of mixed terrain riding – a lot more if you put more into the pedals and ask less of the motor! Batteries are easily swapped out using a special key so for a big day in the saddle you might want to carry another. They can be charged in just 2 hours using the supplied fast charger.
The 250W Bosch ePerformance CX is built with the trails in mind. It gives a little extra power at lower cadences for when you need that extra kick to get up to speed, while cutting out briefly during a gear change to protect the chain as you need to kick a little harder on those climbs. With a peak output of 75Nm of torque (up to 300% the wattage you put into the pedals) you can really shift when you need to, too!
