Haibike SDURO Cross 4.0 2018 Mens Electric Mountain Bike
A stripped down version of the SDURO Trekking 4.0, the SDURO Cross 4.0 2018 Men’s Electric Mountain Bike is a lightweight electric bike that will do better off-road than its trekking cousin yet serves you well on stretches of road or a commute that won’t involve low light conditions.
Light, but sportier
With 700C wheels this is no off-road monster but will happily handle farm tracks and lighter trails. It is good for a ride through the countryside where you might want to go a gentler track as part of your planned route. While it is mostly for road routes, the SDURO Cross 4.0 Electric Mountain Bike has some great kit on it, including low maintenance Tektro hydraulic disc brakes on beefy 203mm rotors at the front and 180mm rotors at the rear. These are great for speed control and only require pad changes half as often as Vee brakes.
The Suntour NEX 63mm travel front suspension forks will iron out smaller bumps and handle potholes on your ride. They feature a lockout so you can change between a harder setting on climbs or for road use, or a softer ride for bumpier sections of the route.
It has a tried and tested Shimano Deore drivetrain that includes a 10 speed, 11-42 tooth cassette that gives you a good set of ratios be it for economical riding up hills or for blasting down a known downhill stretch.
Schwalbe Smart Sam tyres are relatively smooth in the middle for road use but have knobbly bits for paths and mud.
As we indicated above, the Haibike SDURO Cross 4.0 2018 electric mountain bike is a stripped down version of its SDURO Trekking 4.0 cousin. You can fit mudguards made by Haibike separately but if you want lights for regular riding throughout the year (or for longer rides) then do consider the other machine.
