This Haibike SDURO Trekking 1.0 Mens Hybrid Electric Bike is a machine that won’t break the bank yet has the same great Haibike engineering that goes into all of its machines. Suitable for roads and gentler off road paths it is a great machine for your commuting, errand, and family riding needs.
SDURO vs XDURO
In recent years Haibike have decided to make it easy for the rider to choose between its lines of electric bikes. The XDURO series is for people who take riding seriously and won’t want to be left out in the rankings. Meanwhile the SDURO series is for those who may still be fit as a fiddle but are more weekend mud warriors than people who eat, sleep and breathe riding.
Trekking
Ranging from high quality hybrid road bikes to the more cross-country end of the electric hybrid and trekking end of the spectrum, the Haibike Trekking series is for those who want to carry a bit more with them on their journeys and may wish to travel in low light conditions.
Who’s this bike for?
You may be considering getting to work more quickly than by car in switching to two wheels. You could also be the person who is trying to burn off some flab on doctor’s (or conscience) orders and want to venture into the world of electric bikes. Made primarily for the road (and gentler off-road excursions) thins machine can carry cargo on its panniers and has integrated lights so you can see and be seen in most light conditions.
The detail
The SDURO Trekking 1.0 for Men has Schwalbe Road Cruiser tyres on 28 inch wheels – this electric hybrid bike is definitely one more suited to the road than the trail!
The Shimano Acera M360 eight speed drivetrain on a 11-34t cassette will help you go quickly on the flat but still manage those hills on your route – perhaps with an extra push from the Bosch Active Plus motor.
Slowing and stopping is amply managed with Tektro T275 disc brakes on a 180mm rotor at the front and a 160mm rotor at the rear. With most of the braking force on the front, it helps to have a bigger rotor where the bigger forces are.
Very important for commuting and utility runs is the pannier rack at the rear, as well as full mudguards on both wheels and integrated front and rear lights that are wired into the main battery so you can see & be seen as long as you have juice in the battery.
Intuvia display
Built for those who don’t want to worry about every single parameter of their ride this simple, clear LCD display tells you just the basics for your ride. Battery capacity and estimated battery distance, speed and power setting are all in one spot for you to see with a quick glance.
Bosch Active Line Plus motor
Taking up to 1,000 measurements a second from your pedalling, this 250 watt motor gives back just as much power when you need it. Light yet agile, it gives great torque in a smooth yet controlled manner. The Bosch Active Line Plus also pauses briefly as you change gear so your drivetrain isn’t overly stressed. Topping out at 25km/h it provides all the kick you need in normal riding.
400wh battery
The hot-swappable 400 watt-hour battery will serve you well over 30-40 miles of mixed riding – more if you stay in Eco setting or switch it off! Chargeable in just 2 hours, it is easily switched with another one should you feel the need to go farther.
